Small Companies Still Not Seeing Payoff in Wellness Programs
Despite all of the overwhelming evidence confirming the effectiveness of employee wellness programs, small companies, for the most part still aren’t biting, according to a recent study that appeared in the UPI.com. Here are a few key excerpts of the survey contained in the article:
A survey commissioned by YourWellnessAdvantage.com, a free workplace wellness resource for small and mid-size businesses from the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation, conducted in January says 28 percent of smaller companies — those with 10-99 employees — had or were in the process of implementing workplace wellness programs compared to 78 percent of companies with 100-2,499 employees.
Considering just how effective some employee wellness programs have been for larger companies, with some seeing as much as a $3 return in benefits for every $1 invested, why the reluctance by smaller firms to partake in similar programs? We believe reluctance is largely because smaller companies usually lack the internal resources, time and money to start and administer these programs. It’s simply far too daunting a task for the time, money and cash-strapped firms that are always in survival mode and constantly living for today.
We believe that DailyEndorphin’s simple, easy to administer online exercise & wellness challenge platform provides the perfect solution for the cash, time and resource-strapped small company. For as little as less than a dollar per month per employee, the small company can easily set up and run highly effective health challenges and/or a more comprehensive employee wellness program that will promote greater health & wellness, in addition to increasing employee productivity, team-building, and morale.
